Dispatch, developed by AdHoc Studio, received a new trailer during the PC Gaming Show yesterday to announce that the first playable demo of the game will be available. AdHoc Studio itself is composed of developers formerly from Telltale, Ubisoft, and Night School Games.
Players will take on the role of Robert Robertson, formerly Mecha Man, who lost his mech-suit in a battle against his nemesis. Unable to take to the field himself, Robert took a job at the superhero dispatch center as a dispatcher. Tasked with rehabilitating a group of ex-supervillains, players will manage their roster while dealing with co-workers and working on rebuilding Robert’s suit for a shot at revenge.
From the writers & directors of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy set in modern day Los Angeles.
I feel like this idea is kind of a great one for former The Wolf Among Us devs, even if it was an adapted story. I imagine the writers are fairly adept at showing the banality of something fantastical that we’ve all probably grown a little sick of at the moment. I know I hit superhero fatigue years ago, but they still keep coming. This seems like a fresher take and has some management sim in its DNA, which tickles me.
Players will be charged with using a strategy map to review emergencies and Dispatch the right or wrong heroes to complete their tasks. Dispatch is a game where choices matter. Along with the mix of sim and relationship/choices matter style gameplay, AdHoc has put together a crack superhero team of their own with the voice talent they have joining them.
